Forest Bathing Central Oregon

Forest Therapy & Nature Immersion Experiences in Central Oregon!
Backed by science, guided by nature.
When was the last time you gave yourself three full hours to slow down and truly connect with nature and yourself?
To listen to birdsong without rushing.
To notice the scent of pine or damp earth.
To pause long enough to feel supported by a tree or drawn toward moving water.
Forest therapy is a guided, sensory-based experience in nature designed to support rest, clarity, and connection.
Experiences last approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, and can be guided in person, or virtually via zoom.

What Is Forest and Nature Therapy?
Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which translates to “taking in the atmosphere of the forest through the senses,” forest therapy is a guided experience of slowing down, being present in a natural setting, and engaging with the natural environment in ways we don’t usually make time for in daily life. Decades of research have linked forest bathing with measurable benefits such as reduced stress, improved mood and sleep, lower blood pressure, and strengthened immune function.
We will begin with a short grounding exercise to help you arrive and tune into your senses, followed by guided invitations that encourage slowing down and noticing the world around you. Along the way, there will be opportunities to share what you are observing, and we will close with a final group reflection and tea.
This is a reflective, restorative experience. It’s not therapy or counseling, and it’s not a hike or educational nature walk. There’s no expectation to share personal stories, and everything offered is optional. Routes and experience can be adapted to support accessibility. If you have mobility needs or concerns, please reach out in advance.
What to Expect
A calm, unhurried group experience
Slow walking with frequent pauses
Invitations that engage sight, sound, touch, and gentle movement
Time for quiet reflection
Optional opportunities to share observations
A total experience time of 2.5 to 3 hours
What This Is Not
Not a fitness activity or hike
Not a lecture about plants, wildlife, or ecology
Not psychotherapy or group processing
You don’t need prior experience with mindfulness or nature-based practices to participate.
Is This for Me?
Forest therapy may be a good fit if you:
Enjoy spending time outdoors
Are open to moving at a slower pace
Appreciate quiet and sensory experiences
Are curious about experiencing nature in a different way
It may feel less aligned if you strongly prefer fast-paced, goal-oriented activities or are looking for a workout or guided ecology tour.
There’s no right or wrong here. This is simply an invitation to experience the forest differently.
What to Bring
Come prepared to be comfortable outdoors for several hours.
Water
Snacks, if you tend to get hungry
Something to sit on, such as a small blanket, towel, or sit pad
Comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for uneven ground
Weather-appropriate layers (rain gear, warm layers, sun protection)
Experiences take place rain, shine, or snow. Dressing appropriately makes a significant difference in your experience.
A Few Practical Notes
No Dogs. This experience is designed for humans only.
Phones are welcome for safety but should remain silenced and tucked away when possible.
A Final Note
There is no right way to do forest therapy. You’re encouraged to listen to your body, participate in ways that feel supportive, and allow yourself to move at a different pace than usual.
